written with morning uneasiness (of the gassy nature)
i woke up at around 7-7:15 this morning to go pick up my sister, Kathy. she's a nurse at cedars-sinai and works the graveyard shift. that means you go in at 7 pm and come out at 7 am. i think she missed me because she couldn't stop talking! flappin' da yap, catching up and stuff.
we had coffee as breakfast (and cupcakes!) in larchmont. we tried to find tamales at the farmer's market at Larchmont Village, but the tamale stand wasn't even up! but we did find some awesome carrot stackage and fritty fennel fronds. i just decided that the word frond has always been a favorite word of mine, i just never acknowledged it as such! here's an awesome picture of them i took on my phone.
i give you: fennel fronds and baby carrots at 7AM on a Sunday morning.
oh now i feel like i should play a sunday morning song... like that maroon 5 song or that no doubt song...
let's see, i got Mike Snow - Black & Blue playing now. it sucks that i only like 3 of his songs. the others on his album stink, in my opinion.
not looking forward to this week of school. i have a paper due for dance, a midterm for my stupid boring morning history class, and then i have to go to a workshop on nonviolence for my religious studies class... it's by the Nonviolence Peace Force group in Riverside. pretty neat, but workshops always are tiring.... i've had my share. and it's the day before valentines! :( but i feel like i'll be in for a surprise when i return from said workshop by Derek... but expecting is assuming and assuming is not good. donc, i will just be, as i often say, "regular". this "regular" with quotations means... be nonchalant. be ambivalent. be... je ne sais pas... aloof peut-être?
and i am currently taking french 3 so i will sometimes add french to english. so... franglish :)
this song reminds me of myself. because i DO like to sing and put my headphones loud so my hips can swing.
i think i'll take a bath before i leave for riverside. and have wavy clean hair for the ride back :) i hate sitting in a car for longer than 10-15 minutes with stinky hair... or just feeling stinky over all.
well, i think ill stop here before i start typing about every single little thing around me that i notice like my brother's newly showered wavy hair... or my mom shuffling the ads in the Sunday newspaper. or my dad outside using the faucet for the front lawn.
typing from home... in my freezing, high-ceiling-ed, living room. in l.a.
i came home this weekend after that dance performance i had to mandatorily attend. i wonder if mandatorily is a word. well here's my mini dance review... which i will have to expand later for my dance class' turn-in assignment. i'll think of it as practice.
the name of the performance was "Milk Traces" by a member in the dance company inkBoat. i pretty much had to take notes on the performance in the dark because there was hardly any stagelight presence. and the stage was set up to look like... i felt, a fisherman's village where the kimono dresses have gone tattered. the dancer's name was Shinichi Iova-Koga. I think he was like either half japanese or changed his name from a Romanian name to a straight-up japanese name... like Shinichi. i always like to guess where people are from based on their name... the dancer was strapped to this thick rope that was covered in deep red and wine colored rags. i think it symbolized an umbilical cord. again, my opinion. the main dance form that he danced is called butoh. Butoh is a japanese dance form which i think captures a return to the primitive state of men from the ever-changing and often hustle and bustle nature of a now highly modernized Japan. the dance really wasn't appealing to me... haha.. just being honest. but i liked how it was only an hour long :) mean, i know...
well, this weekend is already coming to a close. i've got Law and Order and Law and Order SVU coming up. i'm just loafing around til SNL comes on. i think it's a replay for those fervent SNL viewers, but for me, the occasional SNL viewer... a BRAND NEW EPISODE! Score, i win.
well, i think i'll leave you with a picture of my favorite doggie, Archie. he sometimes doesn't like getting up on different levels if his hop is in a tight space. this is him waiting for me to lift him up next to me on my leather couch here at home in L.A. the tight space is created by the living room's decor table and the leather couch. one day, i will dedicate an entry to this fellow. he's just the most adorable dog in the world.
i haven't been home for a week and by the end of this week, 2 weeks! and i won't even get to go home this weekend because i have to attend this dance performance that was made mandatory by my dance teacher. this dance class isnt' advanced by any means... so i'm not doing crazy stuff at all. instead, i get to stretch and learn concepts rather than techniques.
this is my 2nd entry for my blog...
let's see... i wanted to make it clear/self-assess why i created a blog in the first place:
1. out of boredom
2. to let someone/people out there know what i'm up to
3. to share my ideas/thoughts/musings
that seems pretty reasonable, right?
like for instance, i would say that i am really diggin' this song by Funky DL & Nujabes called Don't Even Try It. Have a listen.
What else... oh yea, as of right now, i was listening to Funky DL but now i am listening to Epik High, korean pop. i like them a lot. the korean pop scene is pretty happening to me!
oh and... also i want to let you know all about me. if i have a dickwad boyfriend, bitchy besties, or unfair parents and snooty sisters.... but i am here to tell you I DON'T!
let's see... i have a sweet boyfriend who can be a funny as i am, no besties at all, and great parents and even greater sisters and brother.
this is going to be a longggg entry because it's the be-all, end-all entry that explains me... but after this entry, they'll most likely be shorter. tons shorter.
maybe you would like to meet my family?? maybe another time... because i can't find my photos of them on my vast collection of photos. but i know you wanna meet my dog! he's the cutest dog in the world. and fluffliest. my brother posted this picture of him on facebook today and i really like it:
doesn't he just look like the CUTEST DOGGIE in the world? he's in our backyard sun-bathing. he loves to wait by our back door and just wait til someone comes by to let him out in the morning. so that he can be at peace in our backyard, sun-bathing!
oh yea! i never told you where i lived. i live in a little neighborhood called Larchmont Village in L.A. it's a pretty quaint neighborhood. and i love visiting Larchmont Blvd, where there is a string of coffee shops and a rite aid, a must-have in a neighborhood concerned with spotless hygiene, right??
here is a list of things i miss while i am away at school... and wanting to go home:
1. Family & cutie dog.
2. Food: Legend Noodle, Boba Time, Chang's Garden, Mandarin Noodle Deli, the Olive, San-Ya All-you-can-eat Korean BBQ, and... much more!
3. Seeing familiar streets
4. Bugging my mom for frozen meats to bring back to school :D
5. just plain being home.
But! Riverside is not all bad! Especially after the rains have cleared (only to come back tomorrow!) i like it's proximity to the beautiful San Bernadino Mountains and the Big Bear Mountains. And even the Box Springs Mountains which i have a view of right outside my balcony! Woot woot go Moreno Valley! what i love about Riverside is that you get a clear shot of the snow that just laid out! It's breath-taking.
1. i like the freedom of being on my own
2. the food: PhoVinam, Boba Cafe, Life Cafe, and more!
3. My own apartment!
4. Late days of waking up (Tuesdays and Thursdays)
5. Going to class late :D
well, i think that's enough for my second-first entry :D i hope you enjoyed it.
